ABYC/ELCI rule postponement

The latest edition of ABYC E-11 calls for Equipment Leakage Circuit Interrupters (ELCI) as part of the main AC circuit protection for shore supplied electricity beginning July 2009.


Because of material shortages in the industry, mandatory enforcement has been delayed until July 2010. Installation of ELCIs is still recommended as a best practice although not manditory for certification as ABYC compliant until July 31, 2010.
