Electronic Technician
Reports to: Engineering Management

Overview: Blue Sea Systems and its affiliated company, Terra Power Systems, design and manufacture electrical system components for boats, vehicles and renewable energy applications, worldwide. The engineering teams create devices for electrical distribution, protection, measurement, control, and safety enhancement in DC and AC applications. The Electronic Technician performs a wide variety of technical and organizational tasks to assist the engineers in their work.
General Duties:
- Programming - new products and modifying existing code
- PCB design and PCBA prototype building
- Testing of the Company's products and those of competitors
- Document Management - Specifications, DVP&R, BOM, ECO's, Work Instructions, Installation Instructions
- Documentation of testing and referenced standards
- Design and build test and production assembly tools and fixtures
- Creation and management of Process work instructions
- Development of Installation Instructions
Education and Knowledge Required or Desired:
- Completion of a formal technical program and 2+ years of experience, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of electrical fundamentals
- Knowledge of marine electrical systems and components is a plus.
- Knowledge of mechanical fundamentals and CAD programs a plus.
Skills Required:
Specific:
- Experience in embedded software - C and Assembly
- Experience creating supporting hardware circuits for Micro Controllers
- Experience with communications protocols - RS485, SPI, I2C
- Experience with PCB layout (Altium experience is a plus)
- Experience with PCB rework
- Advanced skills with test equipment - Oscilloscopes, signal generators, Labview, DAQ Systems
General
- High level of general computer proficiency
- Excellent communication skills - must interact successfully with engineers, non-technical personnel, and with customers.
- Demonstrated initiative in solving challenging problems.
